k ele/nec needs advice
ok heres my debut post and yes i dare to ask for advice any way heres my question: as a fire ele i was wondering what type of magic i should switch to after the wilds? i was thinking of going to my darker nec side but i like using ele skills but i want to be effective..... and i know that there are fire resistant creatures for the most part after a certain point in the game..... so what would you guys and gals suggest?

I stayed fire the whole way thru as even in the last mission where things are truly fire resistant.....there are ways to combat that within other builds.
I'd say stick with fire but if you wanted to dabble in the necro side of your build, check out Life Siphon/Rotting Flesh. Siphon gives life degen to target and gives the same amount in regen to you. RF spreads from target to adjancent foes and give life degen via being diseased for a nice lil AOE effect. Or look at some of the cold dmg spells/hexes under necro as I've noticed that I get max dmg or better on most mobs in the game. |

I'd use the Elite blood spells Offering of Blood or Well of Power, as they both generate precious, precious Ele mana.

Yeah I would too Old Man, but he's only in the Wilds area of the game and is a long way from getting access to those elites ;-)
Basic setup I had until getting a few more spells: Rez Sig, Rot Flesh, Life Siphon, Animate Bone Fiend, Deadly Swarm, Vamp Gaze, Unholy feast, Well of Blood...sometimes switching out Feast for something else....but it was nice to steal 200 life when I had a nice lil mob group near me. With the eception of scarabs in the desert I pretty much started all PvE combat with Rot Flesh, this engaged henchies, diseased target and spread to others that gather round my minions/henchies. Life Siphon on another in the mob, then dealy swarm to hit 3 of em, raised minion from the first fallen or well of blood depending on the state of the henchies. I can tell you this, I was never able to get thru Mineral Springs running henchies with either my monk or two eles (never spec'd for solo monking) but with my Necro....psssh...the chickens didnt know what hit em. |

Yeah forgot about not being far enough :P
WoP: Exploit target corpse to create a well of power at that location. For 8-18 seconds, allies within 39' of the Well of Power gain health regeneration of 1-5 and energy regeneration of 2. 15-3-15 Offering of Blood: Sacrifice 10% of maximum health. You gain 8-18 energy. 5-1/4-15 They are both good, just need a corpse for first one, as well as teammates smart enough to get in the well. As was mentioned above, Necro spells can provide nice life-stealing/self-healing, as well. |

In the early game up to and maybe just before Henge of Denravi, I found fire to be one of the best staple magics starting off.
Hell, at Grendich Courthouse, you get Phoenix and Immolate, 2 of the harder hitting fire spells in the game... Not the best, but not bad either... As a necro secondary, I'd highly suggest going the Curses or Blood Magic route. If you went death, I'd say it's too soul reaping dependant to actually work well. For elites, I'd say to ignore the nec. elites since you don't get any benefit from your runes with them and stick to the Ele elites. Rarely do I choose an elite for my secondary class unless it's REALLY good to support my primary. [mo/me with E. Drain anyone? ^_^] You can almost tank things if you wear Armor of Earth, Demonic Flesh, Ether Renewal, and Fire Attunement. However, as far as spell usefulness goes, ER is probably best coupled with lightning since air magic has fast recharges for the most part. If you're quick to burn mana, Ether Prodigy might be hot and you can steal any hp you lose to it using Blood Magic. Good stuff to be had. |

You have 2 choices for necro:
1.) Minions...which tends to suck unless you sacrafice other skill slots to heal them and put more attribute point in that area. 2.) Well of Blood. After first enemy goes down make a well, get in it and continue fighting However, rather that change to your secondary skills, have you thought about expanding your primary? Using skills like ward against melee or kinetic armor (both earth). If you are being chased by melee, cast it then cast things like phoenix, fireball, meteor. You are now a tank. Alternatively you can run up to where your warriors are fighting and cast the first spell to give them protection (support). Last edited by ChoKILLate[FDG]; Oct 18, 2005 at 07:34 PM // 19:34.. |
